No, you do not need a referral to book an appointment.
However, if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate (psychologist only), you will need a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP.

All clinicians have a small capacity for bulk billing, but this changes depending on the clinician’s availability and the client’s episode of care.
Bulk billing under Better Access is limited to eligible sessions, up to 10 sessions per calendar year, with a valid GP referral.

Medicare rebates generally do not apply to most diagnostic assessments. However, clients under 25 years old may be eligible for up to 4 Medicare rebates for assessment appointments under a Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder referral, which can be prepared by a paediatrician or psychiatrist, for the assessment of Autism.
Some clients may also be able to use private health insurance, NDIS, or other funding, depending on their circumstances and plan inclusions. We recommend checking directly with your provider or funder before booking.

Our intern are completing their final stages of psychology training which includes an unpaid placement.
Their fees cover costs of supervision and any materials used for assessments.

Yes. Our interns are provisional psychologists completing postgraduate psychology training.
They can provide therapy and assessments under the supervision of experienced, qualified psychologists.
All work is reviewed and supported to ensure clients receive safe, ethical, and appropriate care.

We are a trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practice that offers therapy and assessment across the lifespan. Our team takes the time to understand each person’s strengths, needs, history, and goals, so support feels thoughtful rather than “one size fits all.”
We also have a strong focus on training and supervision, which allows us to offer lower-cost options through our intern clinic while supporting the next generation of psychologists.

Unfortunately no! BUT we have an office companion named Pudding, who is a 5 year old West Highland Terrier. She is usually at Coburg on Mondays and Tuesdays, but clients can put in a request to have her around on their treatment day!
