AMANDA FERNANDES

Amanda Fernandes is a Provisional Psychologist currently completing a Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) at Australian Catholic University. With a commitment to supporting children and adolescents, Amanda takes a warm, empathetic approach to her work, striving to create a safe and trusting space for her clients and their families. Amanda is particularly passionate in the areas of neurodiversity, learning difficulties, and supporting individuals with anxiety, depression and emotional regulation.

Amanda is available for individual therapy, and diagnostic assessment (ADHD, Autism) for children, adolescents, and adults. She splits her placement across our Coburg practice and one of our affiliated schools.

Please note that for all clients aged 17 and younger, a parent session is required as the initial appointment. This allows Amanda to obtain developmental history of the client and to understand the presenting concerns from a parent's perspective.

Teenage clients can attend the initial session but this will be split into two halves; first half parent and Amanda and second half client/client and parent with Amanda.

Therapy Style

Amanda’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in understanding each person as an individual. She draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support clients in understanding their thoughts and emotions, developing helpful coping strategies, and moving toward what feels meaningful to them. She aims to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to build skills that support their wellbeing.

Fees

The fee to see Amanda for therapeutic intervention is $90 per session. As she is a provisional psychologist her fee does not attract a Medicare rebate. Assessments attract different fees.
