What We Offer
We are offering three professional development sessions to teachers who want to learn more about psychological principals underscoring childhood development. We aim to provide foundational knowledge so educators can incorporate psychological understanding into their teaching.
These sessions are 2hrs in length and facilitated at our Coburg practice by Dr. Kimberly Mercuri and her provisional team. The maximum capacity of our sessions is 10 attendees, and dinner is also provided.

The Understanding Distress Behaviours in Children workshop is a practical 2-hour session designed to help educators and childcare professionals better understand why children behave the way they do when they’re overwhelmed. Using simple, easy-to-follow explanations of brain development and behaviour, this workshop shows how behaviour is a form of communication and what children may be needing in those moments.
Participants will learn how to recognise different types of distress behaviours and respond with clear, realistic strategies they can use both in the moment and during calmer times.
This is a popular workshop for schools and early childhood settings looking to build confidence, reduce challenging behaviour, and create calmer, more supportive learning environments.

The Understanding Neurodivergence in Children workshop is a practical 2-hour session designed to help educators, childcare professionals, and parents better understand how children think, learn, and experience the world differently. Using clear, easy-to-follow language, the workshop explores common neurodivergent profiles such as ADHD and autism, and what these may look like in everyday settings.
Participants will learn how to recognise differences in behaviour, communication, and regulation, and how to respond in ways that are supportive, respectful, and effective. With a strong focus on real-life strategies, this workshop helps build confidence, reduce misunderstandings, and create more inclusive, supportive environments for all children.

This 2-hour professional development workshop is designed to give educators a practical understanding of the psychological assessment process for children and adolescents—from the initial referral question through to assessment, diagnosis, recommendations and classroom support.
Using clear, accessible language, educators will learn about the different types of assessments commonly undertaken with school-aged children, including cognitive, Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD and autism assessments. The workshop explores what each assessment is designed to answer, what happens during the assessment process, and how psychologists draw together information from testing, observations, developmental history and questionnaires to reach their conclusions.
Educators will also develop a better understanding of their important role in the assessment process, including providing classroom observations, completing questionnaires, identifying useful referral questions and contributing information about a student's learning, behaviour and functioning across environments.
The workshop then looks at how assessment findings are communicated in psychological reports, helping educators identify the information that is most useful for understanding a student's individual learning and support needs.
By the end of the workshop, educators will feel more confident understanding why an assessment may be recommended, what the process involves, what assessment results can—and cannot—tell us, and how schools can use this information to provide meaningful support for students.
