Kate Langtry

(she/her)

APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FROM WEEK STARTING 21ST JULY.

Katie is a provisional psychologist currently completing her final year of her Master of Psychology (Educational & Developmental) at the Australian Catholic University. She is passionate about supporting children, teens, and adults through life’s challenges with warmth, compassion, and care.

Katie brings a genuine, down-to-earth approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. In addition to her clinical training, Katie supports young people and families in her role as a Mental Health Lived Experience Advisor at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Through this work, she has collaborated with healthcare professionals, co-designed resources—including Childhood Anxiety: A Guide for Parents, Carers and Supporters—and provided peer support to young people navigating mental health challenges. This experience has deepened Katie’s empathy and strengthened her commitment to creating a respectful, empowering therapeutic space for every client. Katie offers both individual therapy and diagnostic assessments (ADHD, Autism) for children, adolescents, and adults. She splits her week between the Coburg clinic and one of our affiliated primary schools.

Please note that for all clients aged 17 and younger, a parent session is required as the initial appointment. This allows Kate to obtain developmental history of the client and to understand the presenting concerns from a parent's perspective.

Teenage clients can attend the initial session but this will be split into two halves; first half parent and Kate and second half client/client and parent with Kate.

Therapy Style

Katie takes a warm, open, and collaborative approach to therapy, and values building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect. She understands that reaching out for support can feel daunting, and she works hard to make the process feel comfortable and respectful. Drawing on strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Katie works flexibly and compassionately to promote insight, resilience, and psychological wellbeing.

Fees

The fee to see Kate for therapeutic intervention is $60 per session. As she is a provisional psychologist her fee does not attract a Medicare rebate. Assessments attract different fees.
